The concept of The Alchemist is based on a combination of tradition and innovation, which is reflected in the name of the boutique hotel. It seems as if what can connect medieval alchemy and the city of the Golden Ring, the capital of constructivism and the largest textile center? But there is unexpectedly a lot in common. Primarily, they are united by the desire for search, transformation and transformation.
Just as alchemists were looking for the Philosopher’s stone, with which they could turn any base metal into gold, so as the Ivanovo craftsmen had been creating fabrics from natural fibers for several centuries. Both the former and the latter worked with natural materials.
Alchemy is known to have deep philosophical roots related to the search for perfection. Textile art, on the other hand, is inseparable from symbolism and cultural codes – certain patterns, ornaments and colors may have a special meaning in culture or religion. Alchemists were looking not only for physical gold, but also for spiritual enlightenment and deep meaning, which can be compared with the search for beauty and harmony in textiles.
In addition, alchemists were the forerunners of chemistry and contributed to the development of science and technology. The textile workers were also innovating, for example, in the dyeing process. The dyeing laboratory at the enterprises was a secret room. The craftsmen who worked there could be classified as alchemists, since they kept the methods of creating dyes for fabrics a closely guarded secret, encrypting their recipes with special symbols. They shared them only with a select few, passing on their skills from generation to generation.
There are actually quite a few interesting intersections between two different but complementary worlds. And they are reflected in every detail of The Alchemist Hotel.

The facade of the former house of the manufacturer P.P. Kryukov with elegant decoration in an eclectic style faces one of the oldest streets of Ivanovo, formerly called Pokrovskaya (it led to the Pokrovsky Cathedral located on the site of the Palace of Arts). This architectural monument of the XIX century, restored with preservation of its historical appearance, now serves as one of the buildings of The Alchemist. Together with a purpose-built new building, it harmoniously fits into the image of Ivanovo, embodying its spirit and traditions.
The hotel is located next to the place where once a large Ivanovo manufacturer and famous philanthropist D.G. Burylin presented the residents of the city with the opportunity to get acquainted with part of his collection of «rarities and antiquities», which later formed the basis of the exposition of the Museum of Local Lore.
Inspired by the rich heritage of the Ivanovo region, The Alchemist strives to combine history, art and modern comfort in one place. Many unusual design solutions are used in the interiors of public areas and rooms. They are complemented by antiques, original art objects and works by both famous artists and those whose work is still gaining popularity. Among them is Anatoly Zverev, Anya Acorn, Dima Filippov, Danila Polyakov, Tanya Akhmetgalieva, Alexander Morozov, Vladimir Kustov, Dmitry Gretsky and Evgenia Katz, Peter Shvetsov, Vika Begalskaya and Alexander Vilkin, Asya Feoktistova, Tatyana Radivilko, Natalia Zaloznaya, Zakhar Kudin, Alexey Gan, Tim Parshchikov, Alexander Shishkin-Hokusai, Asya Marakulion, Ksenia Berezovskaya, Yulia Borisova, Elena Troyanskaya, Anna Kaas, Yaroslav Shein, Anastasia Durbazheva, Denis Pitanov, Pavel Yakovlev (P .
